Meet the crew....

On voice box, our Director of Inspiration and Design, the Ringmaster, Madame Juju (a.k.a. Julie Delfs, Jules, Jewels and Just Julie).

Julie began her career at the age of five, singing "I Am Woman" (what an early bloomer!) and has loved performing onstage (any stage you'll give her) ever since! When she's not working on originals or in the studio (her favorite pastime), she is a self-employed floral and garden designer. Every Monday through Friday, the first thing she does is get her husband and three kids out of the house and off to school! Most of all, she dislikes stepping in POO... literally, but mostly figuratively! She admires all things decadent, and anyone who takes risks and follows dreams. Obviously, she's an Aquarius. Her favorite colors are red, black, green, purple, blue, orange and pink... and yellow... and teal... and... I'll just stop there.

Amy Giammattei is not just a member of PRC--I think her title is Chief PA Investigator/Procurer, Format Developer and Director of Pointing Out If Anyone Messes Up.
She learned to play the trombone in fifth grade... and, this one time? At band camp? (Oh, I can't tell that story!) Anyway... She now teaches fifth grade instrumental music. At night she teaches low brass and trombone choir at The College of Saint Rose. When she's rockin' out with PRC or playing jazz with the Empire Jazz Orchestra or Brass-o-Mania, a King 3B is her choice instrument. But, when she is playing classical music, she prefers her Bach 42. She admires J.J. Johnson and Frank Rosolino most of all. The first thing she does in the morning is think about music... then she hits the snooze bar four times, which equals about 30 measures of rest at a very slow tempo. And in case you're wondering, boys: she's single, her favorite color is blue and she's a Pisces; she hates a phony, so keep it real!

In 1983, under the expert instruction of Jon Braverman, Steve Werthner began to play guitar. (His clarinet wasn't loud enough.) He is now a high-school English teacher, an amateur bicycle racer, and a full-time dreamer.

Steve, a.k.a. international film star Buck, practices musical alchemy, channeling 120 volts through his six steel strings to your ears. He loves all styles, especially rock, funk, R&B, reggae and ska. He's a man who has always deeply appreciated Jeff Beck, Bob Marley and cyclist Robbie McEwen, and YES, he, too is single and looking for someone who enjoys his interests: Indian cuisine, domestic felines and some color between blue and green. His philosophy is "Life's too short to waste time and energy on hate." Clearly he's a Democrat, a Pisces, continually under construction and one hell of guy!

PRC has retained the legal counsel and musical prowess of Mark Nizer, Esq. By day he's a mild-mannered attorney at law, but by night he's PRC's woodwind aficionado, playing a Beuscher tenor sax and a Selmer Series III alto sax,Yamaha flute and Buffet clarinet. He started playing clarinet in fifth grade and saxophone in seventh--but if you ask him when he learned to play, he'll say "I haven't yet!" Mark's musical influences include Rush, Peter Gabriel and Frank Zappa. Before he sold his soul, he taught music, of course...duh!

He's a Virgo, but if you ask him his sign, he'll say it's "yield!" If you ask him about the first thing he does in the morning, he'll say "What every man does!" He loves the color green, but not green eggs and ham. On a plate, he prefers surf and turf. He hates vocalists with stupid questions (wait...what??) and slow drivers in the left lane! Yes, ladies he is single, but you'll have to get along with his pet dachshund Oscar!

On drums is Dennis Brooks, who's been beating on things since he was old enough to walk--maybe even before that. He got his first set of drums at the age of 10. He plays Pearl drums and Zildjian cymbals exclusively! (Ya hear that, Pearl? How about some drum swag?) Buddy Rich, Neil Peart, William Calhoun and Stewart Copeland are his favorite drummers of all time.

When he's not banging on things or at his day job, he likes to spend time with the family (he's a Cancer) and play sports. Playing is always on his mind--the first thing he does every morning is hit something, starting with the alarm clock! Dennis is also known as Chocolate Thunder (whoa, that sounds porny). And sorry, ladies—he's not single) If you want to get on his good side, he loves soul food!

John Halverson, a.k.a. Bub, started playing trumpet in fourth grade. He chose the trumpet because it was the loudest instrument he had heard at the time. His biggest idols run the gamut from that old party boy Gustav Mahler, to jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie and Metallica lead throat James Hetfield. A Bach Strad. B flat trumpet with a Bach 10.5 C mouthpiece are his tools for success.

Bub is currently a music teacher in the Albany School District at Giffen Elementary and the Albany School of Humanities. He also co-directs the Albany Marching Falcons. In his spare time he likes to ride his Harley, eat lasagna and jam out with the iPod (not at the same time or in that order). He's a Sagittarius, and his favorite color is black. He hates people who cut him off in traffic and curse him out like HE did something wrong. To sum it all up: he's probably a bad driver but a great addition to the band!

Eric Hofmanis, a.k.a. "The Hof," learned to play at 13. He took lessons for two months, then he learned all he now knows by way of every record he could get his hands on. (You remember records, right? Mmm, vinyl.) In order to pay the bills, he spends most of his time trying to teach children, teenagers and adults how to play an open "E" while they pick their noses, fart, cry and whine (just like professional musicians). In other words, he proudly teaches all ages the magic of the bass, electric and classical guitar. He praises the works of Bernard Edwards, Augusten Burroughs and Eugene Ysaye.

He's a Libra and keeps his balance by starting every day the same way: 1.) Smoke a cigarette. 2.) Drink green tea. 3.) Take an aspirin. 4.) Drink coffee. 5.) Practice ... ALWAYS in that exact order and all within half an hour. His favorite food is bread and butter; his favorite color is burgundy, and he equally hates Enzyte commercials and Queen Latifah. PRC is proud to announce him as their newest member!

Pop Rockin Fun....

Pop Rock Circus is a high-energy, seven-piece, horn driven, pop&rock, party band.
We play popular music for all ages, specializing in tasteful renditions of party hits and some re-worked classics, plus the “pop” of dynamic stage presence.

Our song list includes covers from artists like: Michael Jackson, KC and the Sunshine Band, Donna Summers, Doobie Brothers, Van Halen, Van Morrison, Sly and the Family Stone, Rick James and Led Zeppelin, just to name a few.
